Pestilence (Triple Six #2)
Lydia believed she understood fear, and that the worst was behind her.
She was wrong.
Now, Lydia, Liam, and Shawn are on the run, desperately hiding from a world crumbling faster than they can outrun it. Surveillance drones swarm the skies, cameras line every street, and the barcode, once a mere symbol of control, is now a death sentence.
The government hunts them, a sickness spreads relentlessly, and Colony Delta teeters on the brink of becoming ground zero. As the line between salvation and destruction blurs, Lydia faces an impossible choice: save the few she holds dear, or risk everything for the many.
Pestilence is the gripping second installment in the Triple Six series—a dark, unflinching, and heart-pounding dystopian horror saga where survival isn't just about staying alive... it's about staying human.

The night sky blazed with an unnatural orange glow as flames devoured the data centre. Ash floated through the air, drifting slowly to the ground in lazy, hypnotic spirals, only to vanish into the cold, compact snow at Lydia’s feet. The wetness soaked through her boots, but the numbness spreading in her limbs was nothing compared to the hollow ache in her chest. Her breath fogged in the icy air, sharp and shallow. The firelight danced across her pale skin, casting fleeting shadows.
She should have been running to Liam. She was supposed to help him but the fire... its pull was relentless. Lydia stood frozen. She could not understand her fascination with the fire. The way the orange and yellow blended together as if in perfect harmony, eating away at the building like little ravenous monsters. She felt happiness when she looked at it because she knew that now everything was going to go back to the way it was before everyone had to get the barcode. Her dad would still be dead, though, but she could go home and be with her mum. At last, they would be able to go to her dad’s graveside and say goodbye properly, something she did not yet realise she needed to do.
“Liam.” The name caught in her throat. Her pulse quickened, guilt gnawing at the edges of her mind. She turned to Shaun, her voice trembling. “You must help me get Liam. He’s been shot.”
Shaun’s brow furrowed, his expression hardening with concern. “Where is he?”
She looked over her shoulder. “Back there.” She gestured with a jerk of her head toward the wide, open space behind them. Her ankle throbbed as she broke into a limp-run, ignoring the biting cold that seeped deeper with every step. The sharp sting of fear clawed at her, twisting in her stomach like ice. Her mind screamed at her to remember where Liam was, but the flames had stolen her focus. Panic was creeping in, slow and suffocating.
“Liam! Liam!” Her voice cracked. Her eyes darted across the field, searching for any sign of him. Her heart hammered against her ribs, the fear almost tangible now, wrapping itself around her throat. She almost ran straight past him when she heard his moan. A faint groan. So soft, it could have been the wind. The crackle of the fire was louder.
She dropped to her knees beside him, the snow shifting beneath her weight. “Liam?” The snow was wet, biting through the fabric of her jeans as she slid closer to his body. He was so still. So cold. “Are you okay?” The words felt absurd the moment they left her lips. How could he be? She had left him. Left him to die.
Shaun crouched opposite her, his breath clouding the air. “Liam, where were you shot?”
Liam groaned, his voice a rasp. “My leg.”
